The Medical Transcription Industry Association began as a forum in 1989. It was then sponsored by the Health Professions Institute. This forum lets the medical transcription company owners and managers hold various discussions. Afterwards, a code of ethics and standards were adapted in 1992. Then in 1993, the Medical Transcription Industry Association came into being.
