What Government Office Handles Patents?
This is very easy to answer. In the United States, it is the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) that handles everything from Patent applications to finally issuing a Patent to keeping track of who holds a Patent on or for what item.
This only applies to the United States though. The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is the people who keep track and protect the Intellectual Property (IP) –Patents- of inventors worldwide. The WIPO is part of get patent the United Nations.
In Europe, the European Patent Office (EPO) oversees the Patent Offices in each European nation.
